Istiqlal Mosque
Built in 1958-1960, the Istiqlal mosque is the work of a Christian architect, Mr. Silaban. Another paradox is its name, which means "freedom", whereas Islam means "God submission". It can receive approximately 20000 people (even well more according to the guides). It is huge indeed (greatest of South-east Asia) with a 5 stages prayer room. The photo watch its minaret in the shape of rocket and the interior court. Just opposite the mosque the cathedral of Jakarta is. Indonesia remains still a very tolerant country in spite of the problems which it endures.
